  • Inconel® 600 sheath for temperatures to 2000°F/1095°C;
  • Exact, uniform temperatures with 2 or 3 independently controllable zones
  • Radiant heat transfer allows undersized heaters for easy removal and replacement

Designed for hot press metal forming applications, the X-ROD High Temperature Insertion Heater produces continuous sheath temperatures to 2000°F/1095°C. An Inconel ® 600 sheath allows efficient operation at extreme temperatures. Because of this capability, many applications will observe considerable performance improvements with the X-ROD versus other heat sources.

A unique feature of the X-ROD is to provide two or three independently controllable areas along the sheath length. Precise temperatures can be produced in every location by arranging the process in multiple zones and monitoring and controlling each separately.

The X-ROD's primary heat transfer method is by radiation. The continuing oxidation of the sheath and inside walls of the hole at these temperatures produce excellent transfer of heat. This emissivity improves with usage, allowing sheath and process temperatures to be nearly identical. Diameters are substantially undersized versus standard cartridge heater applications. A .935" diameter X-ROD would be applied in a 1" or larger hole. A X-ROD is easily removed and replaced. Standard X-ROD diameters are .495", .685" and .935" with lengths from 18 inches to 15 feet. .210" diameter Inconel® 600 sheath tubular heaters are available for heating ceramic presses in similar applications.
From 2 to 6 separate metal sheathed elements are arranged and swaged inplace in an Inconel 600 outside sheath.
